The memory café offers peer support which helps to promotes self care, independence, wellbeing and choice. The cafe enables people to meet regularly with others. It provides an informal environment which provides information about dementia/memory loss, gives practical tips about coping with dementia, provides a social network as well as a forum where advice can be given by health and social care professionals. It also offers emotional support and reduces social isolation.
You don’t have to have dementia to come and join us – there are various reasons for memory loss – stroke, head trauma or age related memory loss. If you have any concerns about your memory you can talk to a NHS professional here at the memory café about your concerns and get advice and guidance.
In March Sarah Jane facilitated an art and craft session making Easter cards. In April we will be having a musical activity and in May a bingo session.
