The Memory Café has had to change venue again due to the closure of The Globe Hotel. We are now meeting at the Torrington Arms, New Street.
At the first meeting in July, we had a volunteer from Pets as Therapy bring along a PAT dog which everyone enjoyed. On the 24th July we had an outing to the Merry Harriers at Woolsery, where everyone had the opportunity to look around the shops and garden centre, followed by lunch in the restaurant.
On the 14th August a representative from Taw and Torridge Transport is coming along to tell us about the services they provide and on 24th August we have a welcome return of David Clinch, who will entertain us with his own style of music.
At the September café meeting, Kathy Ellis will be singing a variety of songs which the customers of the café will able to sing along with.
If you have a memory problem due dementia, stroke or other illness, then come along to the café and meet others who have similar problems and their friends and supporters. You will get a warm welcome and have access to NHS professionals who give you advice and support.
I would just like to mention the sad passing of our Chairman Graham Bowen. Graham was a founder member of the Memory Café and also an active member of Devon Senior Voice. Graham will be greatly missed and our thoughts and prayers go to his wife and family.
