During the past few months, the café has enjoyed a number of activities and presentations including music, reminiscence and a talk by Nick Schemoff about using technology to allow older people and people with memory loss to live safely in their own homes.
The memory café is now open twice a month — the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at The Torrington Arms, from 10.30am-12.30pm, until October. In June we had a reminiscence session, using confectionary which brings back memories of our childhood days. John, from Sheena's sweetshop, kindly agreed to bring in some samples which we all enjoyed.
In July we will be enjoying armchair exercises with 'Nimble Limbs'.
You don't have to have dementia to come and join us — there are various reasons for memory loss — stroke, head trauma or age related memory loss. If you have any concerns about your memory you can talk to a NHS professional about your concerns and get advice and guidance.
