The memory café seems to be growing from strength-to-strength with more customers every month. February’s café day fell on Valentine’s Day, and to celebrate we had a duet ‘Desert Rose’ sing ballads as well as heart-shaped biscuits and decorations. We had a raffle which helped raise money to cover some of the costs.
We have been fortunate again to get some funding from the Devon Community Fund which will help us to continue to develop the service we provide for people who have memory loss. Thanks to John Portman who put in all the hard work to secure this funding. As mentioned in last month’s edition, John is moving away from the area and we need to recruit another volunteer fundraiser. If anyone is interested in this post then please get in touch.
We also need volunteers to help with supporting the café and its customers so if you can spare two hours a month then please get in touch.
In April Annie Brierley is coming to read short stories and poems which should invoke a lot of memories from the past. If you, a loved one or friend has a memory problem then let them know about the Café – everyone is welcome.
